My Birthdaycomes early!! Pre-Heresy sets!!!

The armor's cool, the weapons are neat for a nostalgic whim, but on the whole I'll take the current weapons any day. Also, not sold on the "Storm Raven-ram". Waaaay too blocky.

I dunno, has a kind of Land Raidery feel to it that I like. Only thing I dislike is the wing-body attachment - for some reason just seems too 'thin' for the model's overall look.

I think the weapons fit a beakie style armour better. Thanks to the HH novels, I picture the 2nd ed. era style big bulky bolters with the MkIII armour rather than the RT-era weapons.

And of course obligatory would look good as a looked Ork kit comment. :)

And I think it is blocky because it isn't an atmospheric craft from the sounds of it. Not sure I would like an assault craft with two single file lines of marines to file out. Seems like a choke point there!

Yeah, it will be interesting to see if they make older Mks of bolter, there is a lot of variation in the older versions, and they would look a lot better on these older models. I would be curious to make a beaky marine with the new old bolters and see how they look. Do a side by side with the old plastics.

Although that would explain Space Hulk quite a bit.

Hmm, and why that MK III is so armoured up in front. Good for corridor sweeps as it seems that all spaceship corridors are only 1 space marine wide!

Very steampunkish. Don't like the flying shipping containers.

I know you have probably all seen this by now, but now Mk IV armour sets are up for pre-order. Now no more carving knee pads.

also for Pre-Heresy units Ferox pattern Umbra bolters for sternguard vets and the like. We are getting a slew of releases. I know we saw a MK V head, so is that next? Will we see Mk 1 or II? Getting interesting.

See now I do love me some Maximus armor. The bolters I like too, especially the Chain-bayonets.

And more released today, including Crusade, Heresy, and Corvus:

Love the Corvus, although something seems off about the legs. I don't know if they're too thin and/or too tall, or if I just don't like the poses.

BTW, I see that the newsletters states these are the last kits ("for now"), but I really really hope they actually do a set of Thunder Armour figs, as I love the whole concept of techno-barbarians and would love seeing some Blanche-style pre-pre-heresy Marine armies!

There is some awkwardness in the legs, like you said, they just don't look right, but not horrible.

That being said....

My wallet is really weeping. a squad of each will be purchased at the very least. I am trying to figure out which mark I will use as Sternguard. Mk III most likely, or use them as an assault squad with either these jump packs, or the

This shot is just so cool. I am going to try and kit out the Dark Angels with mostly this Mark.

No, I just prioritized the important stuff.

Love those old-school jump packs.

It's so great that they brought back the giant rivets and the pointy missile launchers. I just might have to get over my space marine hate. Perhaps invent a chapter that has been thrown back and forth through time and mix these old armor sets with the newer stuff all willy-nilly.
